Pacific Adventist University Graduating Class Urged to Be Good Stewards
Managing Director of Petromin PNG Holdings Limited, Joshua Kalinoe, as guest speaker at the graduating class’s special banquet, said the students after having completed one of the biggest accomplishments of their young lives must now be spiritually strong and honest as they serve their communities.
He said they are unique because of two fundamental reasons. Firstly, they are graduating from one of the leading Christian Universities in PNG and secondly they have been academically well prepared.
“Whatever discipline you are graduating in, you must make it an effort to give it your utmost best and to provide the best service to those who will be requiring your support and assistance.”
He encouraged the students to exercise the basic principles of self discipline, enterprising commitment and accepting failures with dignity in the pursuit of their dreams.
“Self discipline is perhaps one of the basic characteristics of being a good steward. With self discipline comes honesty, respect, humbleness and success.
“When people lack self disciple they tend to get into a lot of problems. Often they become unsuccessful in realizing their dreams simply because they have not stood up to the challenges of the environment in which they are part of. Because they are not honest to themselves, they no longer have the respect of those around them.”
Mr Kalinoe urged the students to set an objective, a dream or a vision and strive to achieve that vision with total commitment.
“Your success after you leave the University gates, depends very much on how you relate yourself with the environment you will live and work in. Basic principles of personal discipline, enterprising commitment and accepting failures with dignity and moving on with resilience to achieving your set objectives are likely to transform you into a good successful steward.”
