The sick children of Wewak Hospital will be able to sleep a little bit better, thanks to a donation of over K3000 worth of pillows, double spread bedsheets and pillow cases by Petromin PNG Holdings Limited.
On Friday 26th February, Petromin Board Chairmen Mr Brown Bai accompanied by Petromin Board Directors, the Petromin Managing Director Joshua Kalinoe and Senior Management visited the historic hospital and made the donation.
Petromin Chairman Brown Bai said Petromin has had its first board meeting in Wewak and have found the town quite beautiful and its people very welcoming.
He said when Petromin approached the Wewak Hospital with the intention of making a donation to the people of East Sepik, as part of the company’s community and social contributions, CEO of the Hospital Dr Louis Samiak said the hospital was in need of good linen for its patients, especially the mothers in the maternity ward and the children.
“Petromin is pleased to make this small donation of much needed linen - bedsheets, pillows and pillow cases to the Wewak Hospital and especially to the children and the mothers. We acknowledge the efforts of the Wewak Hospital CEO Dr Samiak and his staff who tirelessly serve the people of East Sepik. We hope this contribution brings some comfort to the patients at your hospital.”
Dr Samiak and his senior doctors, nurses and staff were on hand to receive the donation.
Dr Samiak said the hospital has been operating since the mid 1940’s and was always glad that corporate citizens such as Petromin assisted with timely donations that would help their patients.
